Meretz UK and Spiro Ark are delighted to invite you to a screening of the film “Regina” on Sunday evening, 21 June. Producer Alan Reich (London) and director Diana Groó (born in Budapest) will be with us to lead a discussion after the screening.

Produced in 2013 and shown on BBC4 in February, this compelling documentary tells the story of the courageous Regina Jonas who defied convention to become the world’s first woman rabbi. You will be moved by this tale, both inspiring and tragic, as Regina achieved her dream despite her upbringing in the slums of Berlin, yet ultimately perished in Auschwitz. Regina’s words are narrated by the talented British Jewish actress Rachel Weisz. The film has also appeared at a number of Israeli festivals.
