Colin Shindler is emeritus professor at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. He became the first professor of Israel Studies in the UK  in 2008 and was the founding chairman of the European Association of Israeli Studies in 2009. Besides The Rise of the Israeli Right, Shindler is the author of eight books including his History Of Modern Israel (Cambridge University Press 2008, 2013). He has also written extensively for journals and newspapers ranging from The New York TimesThe Guardian and Ha’aretz to the Jewish Chronicle, Financial Times and the Jerusalem Post, on topics including Jews and the left, current UK Labour Party affairs, the ideological roots of Likud, Marxism in Europe, the Arab-Israeli conflict, British Mandate Palestine, the BDS campaign and settlements.
